The short version
Every calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser. The figures you type — your usage, your rate, what your friends ordered at dinner — are never transmitted to this site or to anyone else, are never stored, and are gone when you close the tab. There is no account system, no email capture, and no server-side calculation of any kind.
How to verify that yourself
You do not have to take the claim on trust, and a privacy policy that can only be believed is worth less than one that can be checked. Open your browser's developer tools — on most desktop browsers that is F12, or Ctrl+Shift+I, or Cmd+Option+I on a Mac — and select the Network tab. Reload the page so the tab starts recording, then use any calculator on the site: type your usage, change your rate, press the button, watch the answer appear.
Nothing appears in the network list. The page fetches its HTML, its stylesheet, its script file and its fonts when it loads, and after that it makes no request at all while you are calculating. There is no request carrying your inputs, because the arithmetic happens in the script already running on your machine. The only other network activity you may see is the analytics request described below, which fires on page view and carries no calculator input. If you ever observe otherwise, that is a bug and a serious one, and we want to hear about it through the contact page.
What we do collect
We use Statcounter to measure traffic. It records the sort of thing every web analytics package records: the page you viewed, roughly when, the referring page if there was one, your approximate location derived from your IP address, and your browser and device type. We use this only to understand which pages are useful and which are not. Statcounter operates as an independent data controller for the information it collects; its own privacy policy governs that processing.
Server logs
The web host that serves these pages keeps ordinary request logs, as every web server on the internet does. A log line records the IP address that made the request, the time it was made, the URL requested, the response code, and the user agent string your browser sends. This is a by-product of serving a page over HTTP rather than a decision we made about you.
Those logs are used for two things: security — identifying abusive traffic, scraping that degrades the site for other people, and attempted exploitation — and troubleshooting, such as finding out why a page returned an error. We do not join them to anything. There is no user table, no identifier, no email address and no account for them to be joined to, and we do not attempt to resolve an IP address to a person. We do not sell, share or publish them.
Cookies
Statcounter may set a cookie to distinguish repeat visits from new ones. We set no cookies of our own, and the site does not require cookies to function — every calculator works with cookies blocked entirely.
Do Not Track, and blocking us
If your browser sends a Do Not Track header, we do not override it and we run no mechanism that would defeat it. We do not fingerprint devices, we do not use local storage or any other client-side store to reconstruct an identity a user has cleared, and we do not participate in any cross-site identity or advertising graph.
You are welcome to block the analytics outright. A tracker-blocking extension, a content-blocking browser, a private or strict browsing mode, or a DNS-level blocklist will all stop Statcounter loading. The site is designed so that this costs you nothing: the calculators are plain JavaScript with no dependency on analytics, so every tool works identically with the tracker blocked, with all third-party scripts blocked, and with cookies disabled. Nothing on this site is gated behind agreeing to be measured.
Data retention
Because we hold no personal data, there is nothing for us to retain. There is no database of visitors, no stored calculator input, no saved result, and no message archive — the contact form composes an email in your own email program and submits nothing to this site. Server logs are kept only as long as the host's ordinary log rotation keeps them, and are used only for the security and troubleshooting purposes described above. Statcounter retains the analytics data it collects under its own retention schedule, which is set by Statcounter and governed by its privacy policy, not by us.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with anyone.
- We do not run advertising networks or behavioural advertising trackers.
- We do not ask for your email address, and we operate no mailing list.
- We do not connect to your bank, your utility account, or any financial service.
- We do not take money from energy suppliers, brokers, or comparison services.
Third-party links
Some pages link to government data sources, utilities, and standards bodies so you can check our figures. Those sites have their own privacy practices and we have no control over them.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal information about you, there is nothing for us to export or delete on request. If you want to stop Statcounter recording your visits, a tracker-blocking extension or your browser's Do Not Track setting will do it, and the site will work identically.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be described rather than quietly substituted.
